Tai Chi at HHWC
The Hazleton Health & Wellness Center will offer Tai Chi from the Arthritis Foundation® starting February 21. The Level I class is taught by Mark R. Reinhart NMT, MMQ, one of the only instructors in Northeastern PA currently certified to teach the program by its creator, Dr. Paul Lam. Reinhart is the president of the National Qigong Association and has been actively involved in the Eastern martial and healing arts for fifty years. He is a regular presenter and lecturer at venues around the country.
Tai Chi from the Arthritis Foundation® is designed to improve the quality of life for people with arthritis using Sun style Tai Chi, one of the four major recognized styles of Tai Chi. This style includes agile steps and exercises that may improve mobility, breathing and relaxation. The movements don't require deep bending or squatting, which makes it easier and more comfortable to learn. The program itself consists of 12 movements — 6 basic and 6 advanced — a warm up and a cool down as well as qigong breathing exercises. Accessible to people of all fitness levels, the class is the ideal exercise for people with arthritis or anyone in need of a gentle yet effective form of exercise. It is also perfect for anyone interested in learning Tai Chi.
